INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT SERVICES
Northside is a full service investment manager that provides its clients with a suite of services, fully integrating the critical aspects of private and institutional wealth management. From the start of the relationship and throughout the investment process, the services provided allow clients to interface with Northside as their key trusted strategic investment manager. Northside will allocate assets across an optimal array of managers and strategies, and maintain oversight of daily transactions and the specific needs of each client.
As a completely independent investment manager, Northside services are provided for an asset-based fee only. We do not generate revenue or accept payment-in-kind from any other arrangement.
The investment process thoroughly incorporates issues related to tax, trust and estate planning, as well as issues related to business succession and generational planning. Northside does not, however, maintain staff for these areas in-house. Typically, clients have already chosen to work with specific professionals within these respective disciplines, Northside, however, can recommend preferred providers when requested. While Northside is usually able to work with any of a wide range of custodians, we can also recommended one to provide highly reliable and cost efficient custodial services.
Northside's services include the following broad categories:
RISK ASSESSMENT & DEVELOPMENT OF INVESTMENT POLICY:
- Northside begins with a risk assessment survey to help ascertain each client's risk profile. The survey is distributed to the appropriate parties, including: Board members, family members, trustees and advisors. We use this information to determine risk tolerance and the level of understanding of the various asset classes and strategies we employ.
- To the extent necessary, Northside will provide educational sessions and materials to its clients on individual investment strategies. We want our clients to understand fully the strategic aspects of our advice, and we also know the vital importance of preparing the next generation to make sound, informed investment decisions.
- Based on the results of this process, Northside will develop a written Statement of Investment Objectives and Policies (SIOP). The SIOP is the roadmap used in Northside's disciplined approach to customized asset allocation, while still allowing for flexibility in the structure as investment opportunities or each client's situations warrant.
PORTFOLIO CONSTRUCTION:
- Northside will build a customized investment portfolio, focused on risk-controlled performance, and tailored to each client's SIOP.
- Northside uses its exceptional experience and deep understanding of capital markets to select best-of-class managers.
- We will employ our extensive database and historical qualitative due diligence in this process.
MANAGER SURVEILLANCE:
- Close scrutiny and frequent evaluation of manager performance is a focus of Northside personnel.
- It is critical to each client portfolio that Northside understand whether the investment strategy is consistent with the original assessment of the exploitable opportunity, the manager's skill and integrity, the associated risks, and that the elements critical to success continue to be in place.
- Northside maintains consistent dialogue with its managers, with on-site meetings, phone calls, position review, and evaluation of the managers’ key service providers.
- Northside uses a host of leading edge Wall Street analytical tools to analyze position level detail, aiding in the comparison and monitoring of each manager.

- Northside uses both proprietary software and Advent Axys, an industry leading portfolio management reporting and accounting solution, to reconcile client accounts on a daily basis.
